Message Go for the LGT. I've had one as my DD for almost 5 years now (2005 LGT sedan). Great car, nice interior (in limited trim) and very easy to go to stage 2 (cobb accessport, sti uppipe for the 2005 models, and either gut the dp or buy a catless downpipe) and crank out 40-50 more hp. If you are lucky enough to find a manual wagon, pull the trigger b/c they are getting hard to find. As for the ring problem, I believe the 2005 and 2006 models are friendlier than later model years. I've not had any issues (knock on wood) with almost 50k miles at stage 2 and almost 80k miles on the car.
